Outfit of the Day (#OOTD)

Ciao ♥ Last Saturday I celebrated my 23rd birthday with three of my girlfriends. We began our evening by going for dinner at The Meat Co in Westfield, White City. Upon arrival we were led upstairs to the dining area where we spent a good ten minutes, if not more, undecidedly flicking through the menu. After what felt like forever I finally settled upon the rib-eye steak which came with a side order of hand cut chips. I also ordered an additional side dish of mixed vegetables as I’m a greedy b*tch.

The steak was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely divine. Sadly, this cannot be said for the remainder of the meal as the vegetables were still slightly hard and the chips were far too large in size for my liking and were not particularly tasty. Is that me being a little too picky? Hmm! After spending fifty odd quid (such a Londoner in terms of expression) on my meal I feel I have every right to be. Oh but don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a restaurant I’d happily eat out at again as the steak was superb. Have any of you eaten at The Meat Co before? If so, what are your thoughts?

We then headed to Bar Salsa in Soho where we spent the rest of our night dancing, dodging perverted guys who were patrolling the dancefloor and stepping outside every now and again to escape the sweaty atmosphere. All in all I had a great night :)

Besides from the actual going out part I also love the process of getting ready for a night out. On this occasion I wore this stunning crochet dress featuring a paisley print from Zara. It’s in quite a loose fit and falls mid-thigh. I particularly adore the high neckline as it oozes elegance and chic-ness. I paired it with my cobalt blue tie-up heels which add a pop of colour to my outfit, not that it really needs it as my dress is of quite a bold colour too.

Outfit of the Day (#OOTD)

Ciao ♥ On Monday evening I went out for dinner with my work colleagues to celebrate, and slightly mourn, me leaving my job. It was quite a last minute two day before sort of thing as I hadn’t initially organised anything but the girls at work insisted I have a proper send off.  Aren’t they the sweetest? I settled upon Burger and Lobster in Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge, and so we filled our bellies full with well, burgers and lobster of course.

As it was a girly affair I thought it was the perfect excuse to dress up :) After trying on a ton of outfits, posing undecidedly one-two many times in the mirror and asking my sisters for advice (more so the 10 year old), I finally settled upon a fitted floral dress… or so I thought. Predictably, I changed my mind at the last minute and ended up wearing this gorgeous two-piece from American Apparel which I conveniently bought just a few days earlier.

Both garments are in an XS and fit me as if they were made for me. The skirt is of a midi-length and has a wraparound design. This detailing means that it can be worn to your preference on either your hips or waist. I chose to wear it quite high up as I’m a sucker for anything that is high-waisted as it’s a great way of emphasizing your silhouette. The crop top is in a stretchy material and literally moulds to your body shape. Considering that this was my first ever purchase from American Apparel, I am super impressed. So much so that I can already see it’s the start of an unhealthy and expensive addiction. Do you guys shop at American Apparel and if so, what is your favourite thing from them?

Product Review | L'Oréal False Lash Superstar Mascara

Ciao ♥ Every once in a while I come across a product that I want to shout from the rooftops about. This time around it’s L’Oréal’s False Lash Superstar which has me losing my voice, and rightfully so. But before I begin and in case anyone is interested, I previously reviewed two other L’Oréal mascaras which you can read by simply selecting: Miss Manga or Volume Million Lashes So Couture. Now the unintentional plugging is out of the way, let’s get on with it.

Every so often I get the odd person or two asking me what mascara I use as they’re super impressed with the length of my lashes. Heck! I’ve even had a few people ask if I have eyelash extensions. I don’t but what I do have is clearly more mascara than sense. I know which ones work and which ones don’t. Now that’s saying something as if you’ve read my previous product reviews you’d know that I don’t usually take very well to new products, especially mascara, upon first application. It’s almost as if there’s an instant dislike button in my head and the product has to do everything in its power to gain my affection.

L’Oréal’s False Lash Superstar mascara is made up of two wands, on opposite ends, featuring two different products. The first is a primer which individually coats your lashes in a white formula helping to thicken its appearance. The second is a top coat which ‘applies a black fibre enriched formula that perfectly coats your lashes’. Like all mascaras, I find this one works best when you wiggle the brush at the root of your lashes from side-to-side and work it through to the end.

Upon seeing the size of the brushes I was a bit apprehensive as to how much I’d like this product as I’ve NEVER been a fan of a skinny mascara brush. I’ve always said the bigger the brush, the more volumised your eyelashes are going to be. However, after using this mascara for a good month or so, I can happily confirm that it has exceeded my expectations and has become a go-to product in my make-up routine. Not only does it separate and lengthens my lashes but I haven't had a single eyelash clumping together problem. I've also found that it doesn't cause my eyelashes to go hard after application but still leaves them feeling quite soft, meaning that make-up removal at the end of the day is rather easy. The only downside to this product is that although the top coat formula is black, it's not an intense enough black for me. Therefore, I often use it in combination with Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara which does the job. Overall, L’Oréal has got it right yet again.

Not the best picture or pose but I wanted you guys to see what this mascara looks like on.

Have any of you tried this product? If so, what are your thoughts? Also, what is your current favourite mascara, or beauty product for that matter? I’d love to know :)

OUTFIT OF THE DAY (#OOTD)

Ciao ♥ How are you? It’s a particularly grey and gloomy day today here in London. Much like my outfit, minus the gloominess of course. It’s funny how us Brits usually start off a conversation by discussing the weather. I think we’re somewhat obsessed by it :P

Anyway, this beautiful perforated skirt has been hiding out at the bottom of my wardrobe, with a tag still intact, since the beginning of this year. It was definitely about time I paraded it around town, or work shall I say. As you can see it’s extremely high-waisted and does a fabulous job at clinching me in at the waist which helps to enhance my natural silhouette. It falls in an A-line shape which just happens to be bang-on-trend with the whole 70s vibe. As this skirt is of a midi length I would usually opt to pair it with a pair of pointed stilettos or a strappy pair of sandal heels. This would help to elongate the appearance of my legs as the length of the skirt almost makes them seem non-existent. However, on this occasion I made the sensible choice of pairing it with my Vagabond boots which have a chunky and low heel as I didn’t want to trotter around in heels all day at work.

Forgive me in advance if you’re sick to death of me sporting this jacket in my outfit posts. It’s been one of my spring-summer go-to jackets for the last five years. Considering its lifespan it’s held up incredibly well and does not look anywhere near its age. I wear it with absolutely everything as it’s such a classic and staple piece. What do you guys think? X
